Every two years, the Stouffville Skating Club runs a full-production Ice Show, giving our skaters the opportunity to perform in costume for the community. The show features a mix of senior solo performances and group numbers involving skaters of all levels who choose to participate.
The show features professional lighting and sound, providing a memorable performance experience that allows our skaters to build confidence while performing in front of a live audience.
Volunteer Support
The Ice Show is a large-scale production that relies on the support of many volunteers, including parents and siblings, to bring the event to life. While some volunteer roles are needed in advance to assist with planning and preparation, the majority of support is required during Ice Show production week to help ensure a successful event.

Dressing Room Chaperones
By far the largest group of volunteers needed during production week rehearsals and shows, dressing room chaperones supervise skaters in the dressing rooms. Approximately 30 chaperones will be needed for each rehearsal and show.
For each rehearsal and show, every skater group requires at least two parent volunteers to help supervise skaters in the dressing rooms and marshal them to and from the ice. Please note that chaperones will not be able to watch the show while volunteering; many parents choose to volunteer for two performances and enjoy watching the third from the audience.
- For Senior, Intermediate and Intro to Star skaters, since they skate in both halves of the show, the chaperones are needed for the full rehearsal or show, which is approximately 4 hours.
- For Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate parents, chaperone shifts are approximately 2 hours during the half of the show in which your skater is performing.
It is important to note that chaperones are matched with the gender of the skaters they are supervising. For example, a male parent would not be assigned as a chaperone in a girls’ CanSkate dressing room. For mixed-gender groups, both a male and female chaperone must be present.
Refundable Volunteer Fee
At the last ice show in 2025, the club was significantly short of volunteers to help with the club operations and especially with the Ice Show. The entire event was organized by a very small number of board members.
To encourage sufficient volunteer participation in 2026-2027, the club has needed to implement a volunteer surcharge during program registration. This surcharge will be added once per family to your invoice during registration. It will be refunded in full once you volunteer with club.
